Driveway Pavers

Tough, durable and long-lasting driveway pavers

Tough, durable and long-lasting driveway pavers

Contrary to traditional consensus, driveways do not need to be boring and made of concrete. In fact, a driveway is a pivotal point of entrance to your home and wanting to build one that exudes a majestic touch, is a very valid desire. After all, wouldn’t you rather feel like the queen or king of your castle when rolling up or down the driveway? We think so too.

So, if you nodded along before, we have the perfect alternative to concrete driveways: durable, modern, and luxurious natural stone pavers, porcelain pavers and cobblestones – all of which add a majestic touch to your property.

The most important points to consider when choosing your driveway pavers are:

  • Non-slip rating for the paver – tyres are slippery when wet so it’s essential the chosen natural stone, porcelain or cobblestone pavers have a good grip and a slip-rating of P4 or P5 (which means they’re not too slippery)
  • Durable and can hold heavy-loads – some natural stone pavers (like limestone) are more porous, making them more prone to stains. Other natural stones (like sandstone) are porous and unable to withstand the heavy loads of a vehicle. If you want to install natural stones for a driveway we recommend choosing from granite, bluestone, porphyry, or cobblestones. Alternatively, porcelain pavers – which are made from clay – are another durable alternative.
  • Darker in colour as they will hide tyre and oil stains better
  • Suitable for the incline and shape of your driveway – while natural stone paver slabs are beautiful and will stand the test of time, they will not work as well as cobblestones for installation around bends and tricky spaces.

Natural stone pavers for driveways

Natural stone pavers are a majestic alternative to traditional concrete driveways. Along with their luxurious touch, they are durable, easy to install and will withstand the test of time.

Our recommendations of natural stone pavers for driveways include granite, bluestone, porphyry and cobblestones. These are extremely robust, slip and stain-resistant, durable natural stones designed to withstand the heavy traffic load that driveways need to hold.

Bluestone pavers for driveways

Beautifully grey blue in appearance with cat-paw like patterns throughout, bluestone pavers are dense, durable, stain and slip-resistant, all good qualities for a driveway paver. As they are mainly available in rectangular pieces, we suggest installing bluestone pavers for linear driveways.

Porphyry pavers for driveways

Porphyry pavers are beautiful, durable, require little on-going maintenance, and can last for millennia at a time: all ideal characteristics for driveway pavers. Boasting a split-surface, porphyry has high slip-resistance which is ideal for steep driveways.

Granite pavers fors driveways

An igneous rock, formed by magma or lava solidifying and cooling over the span of millions of years, granite natural stone pavers are durable, tough, and extremely resistant to scratching and abrasion which makes them super easy to maintain. Along with all these benefits, granite driveway pavers will stand the test of time and pressure from the heavy traffic loads and their greyish blue colouring will mask any tyre and oil stains. A win-win-win in all ways – wouldn’t you agree?

Porcelain driveway pavers

If you are looking for a natural stone paver look for your driveway, without the price-tag, we would love to introduce to our range of porcelain pavers. Made from structural clay, porcelain pavers are highly versatile, dense and durable – the perfect combination for high-traffic areas like driveways.

Additionally, they are easy to maintain, have a high slip resistance and do not stain. And if you are looking for a paver that blends with the rest of your home aesthetics, but a natural stone equivalent like limestone, sandstone or travertine isn’t suitable, porcelain is the way to go.

At Armstone, we stock a wide selection of porcelain pavers that are all ideal for driveways. Our only suggestion is to install porcelain pavers in more linear shaped driveways. Why? Well, porcelain is made of clay so it’s very tough to cut into curved shapes. We stock a variety of sizes in travertine, quartz, marble, limestone, sandstone, and granite porcelain pavers for your driveway.

Cobblestone driveway pavers

If you are looking to add an old-age look to your driveway, or if you have a driveway that is irregularly shaped with curves and inclines, cobblestones are definitely ideal for you. Featuring small stones interspersed with gaps between them, our cobblestones are available as loose stones or on a mesh-backing – which makes them easier to install.

Though they are relatively small, our cobblestone driveway pavers have a high compressive strength rating making them incredibly tough and durable. This means that they are strong enough to support the weight and constant vibration of vehicles entering and exiting the driveway. Their dark colour and textured finish also mask stains, tyre marks and oil leaks.

At Armstone our cobblestones are available in Chicago, Herringbone, Brick and Straight patterns and in travertine, granite, quartz, basalt, and limestone cobbles.

After some initial inspiration at the Armstone showroom, Arman and Lachlan were very helpful in assisting with the design for cladding our garden bed wall with the sandstone castle cladding product, finished with a light grey grout. It turned out amazing. Thanks for your help, prompt supply and after sales support.
