Beautiful and durable pavers for any commercial space

If the first word you think when you hear “commercial pavers” is “heavy-duty” then you are right. By virtue of nature, when choosing natural stone pavers for commercial projects, you need to focus more on the chosen paver’s durability and functionality rather than its aesthetics.

In Sydney, Granite pavers are the most popular natural stone paver for commercial outdoor use. At Armstone, we stock a wide range of granite pavers and porcelain granite-look pavers for your commercial project. Other natural stones that are council approved for commercial use, are porphyry cobblestones and porcelain pavers.

Some important considerations for commercial pavers are that they can withstand heavy foot and vehicle traffic, are dense and durable, and have a good grip (high non-slip rating).

So, let’s have a look at some of the options available for you at Armstone.

Natural Granite Pavers For Commercial Use

Natural stone pavers are known for their ability to stand the test of time. But not all natural stone pavers are structurally built to withstand the type of pressure that commercial properties require. Granite – being an igneous rock formed by magma or lava solidifying and cooling over the span of millions of years – is popular in the building and construction industry because it is extremely tough and durable.

The most popular commercial Granite paver is the G684 – else known as Raven Granite at Armstone. Much like the name suggests, it features a charcoal colouring which is an ideal choice for areas with high foot traffic as it masks stains easily and require less cleaning and overall maintenance. Additionally, Raven Granite stone pavers are one of the densest granite options, with a flamed finish which gives the stone a P5 non-slip rating – the highest split grip rating for commercial grade installations.

If you’re looking for a lighter colouring for your outdoor commercial project, the G654 Granite paver – or as we call Gris Granite at Armstone – is the best option for you. Gris Granite is silver-grey in colour with all the positive features of Raven granite.

Cobblestones for Commercial Outdoor Projects

If you look at the pathways across Europe and the Mediterranean, you will see that cobblestones are an extremely robust, dense, and durable material that can withstand both heavy foot and vehicle traffic, and thousands of years of exposure to the elements.

This makes cobblestone pavers an ideal choice for commercial use. In Sydney, Porphyry Cobblestones are the council approved choice. Porphyry is a very dense igneous rock with a colour palette of mixed greys and browns. At Armstone, we stock Porfido Porphyry Cobblestones, which have a naturally split surface and sawn sides, giving extra grip and slip-resistance – both important for commercial use with heavy loads of foot and vehicle traffic.

Porcelain Pavers for Commercial Use

Last (but certainly not least), porcelain pavers are an excellent choice for all commercial projects. Used for apartment floors and rooftops, steps and even pedestal systems, porcelain pavers are made from structural clay that is compressed and glazed. At Armstone we supply a wide range of porcelain tile designs such as limestone, travertine, granite, quartz, sandstone, and marble – suitable for modern or traditional commercial outdoor projects. Porcelain pavers do not require sealing, are non-slip and stain averse, and dense – all critical considerations for commercial flooring.

Unlike natural stone pavers, porcelain pavers do not have any fracture points in their structure. As such, porcelain tiles will not get any hair-line fractures from the expansion and contraction process of changing seasons. If you want your outdoor commercial project to stand the test of time, consider porcelain pavers.

Are natural stone pavers better than concrete pavers for commercial projects?

This depends on a few factors, the biggest one is your budget. While natural stone pavers are aesthetically beautiful and durable, if you are working on a tight budget, you may be better off using concrete pavers for your commercial project. In saying that, concrete is more susceptible to cracking over time due to seasonal temperature changes. Check out our comprehensive guide where we review this in more detail.

How much do your commercial pavers cost?

Every project is unique, which is why it’s challenging to answer this question without knowing the specific scope of your commercial paving job. The cost will depend on the size, choice of pavers (porcelain, cobblestone or natural), its finish and thickness. For a detailed quote, email us or call 1300 560 560.
